I was hired by Dupuis Invest to build and launch a dedicated proptech venture‑capital arm within its existing private‑market investment platform. Dupuis Invest is a Berlin‑based private market investment boutique managing over €2.7 billion in assets and eventually made more than 50 innovation investments across real assets technology.

Scope & Approach
I began by defining a clear proptech investment thesis – targeting software and service platforms that digitize property operations, climate‑tech building solutions, and marketplaces enabling new ownership models. Working closely with Dupuis’ senior leadership, I mapped Europe’s fragmented proptech landscape, identified opportunities, and built a structured deal‑sourcing process combining proprietary research, sector partnerships, and outreach to founders.

Deliverables

• Comprehensive proptech market landscape report with segmentation, competitive analysis, and target company profiles

• Pipeline management system (CRM) configured for deal tracking, scoring, and stage gating

Outcome
Dupuis’ newly launched proptech VC arm deployed capital into a diversified portfolio of both direct startup stakes and fund‑of‑fund commitments. On the direct investment side, the fund backed five early‑stage proptech companies spanning residential property‑management SaaS, smart‑building data analytics, and climate‑tech solutions – each chosen for clear product‑market fit and defensible recurring revenue models.

Simultaneously, Dupuis committed capital to three established proptech fund‑of‑fund vehicles, providing exposure to broader deal flow and later‑stage opportunities while mitigating single‑company risk. This hybrid investment strategy delivered immediate portfolio diversification, accelerated Dupuis’ entry into proptech venture investing, and laid the groundwork for scalable follow‑on allocations.
