Ampion Ventures - Consultant
2019
B2C
Ampion Ventures retained us to design and launch their deal‑sourcing engine and go‑to‑market strategy for a new Africa‑focused venture fund. Founded in March 2019 in Berlin by Fabian‑Carlos Guhl (founder of Ampion.org) and backed by Plutos Ventures, Ampion’s mandate was to provide seed capital and strategic support to scalable digital business models in agritech, energy, and fintech across Africa.
Scope & Approach
We began by codifying Ampion’s investment thesis – defining target sectors, geographies (16 countries), and company maturity criteria. We then built a repeatable deal‑sourcing framework that combined automated screening of startup directories (Crunchbase, AngelList, F6S) with bespoke outreach through Ampion’s existing network. To differentiate Ampion in a crowded VC market, we crafted a clear value proposition emphasizing hands‑on operational support, corporate partnership opportunities, and access to Berlin‑based LPs.
Deliverables
A structured pipeline process, including CRM setup and standardized evaluation scorecards
A go‑to‑market playbook outlining LP targeting, pitch materials, and partnership frameworks
An investor deck and fund prospectus tailored to institutional and family‑office audiences
A launch plan for digital and in‑person events (roadshows, founder summits) to seed dealflow
Outcome
Within three months of launch, Ampion attracted €5 million in LP commitments and generated a pipeline of 250+ vetted startups. The first five seed investments closed in under four months – reducing sourcing time by 70% – and positioned Ampion to support over 80 early‑stage companies across 16 African markets.
